Homeless Healthcare Collaborative: Blue & Gold Challenge
By UCLA Health
At UCLA Health, we know the needs of our unhoused neighbors can’t wait. Help provide clinical services for men, women, and children living on the streets.
At UCLA Health, we know the needs of our unhoused neighbors can’t wait. Help provide clinical services for men, women, and children living on the streets. UCLA Health The homelessness crisis in Los Angeles can feel overwhelming. In one way or another, all of us have been touched by it. For those of us who live in L.A., we see our homeless neighbors all around us – outside our local stores and businesses – often passing them by. Even when you want to create change, it can be hard to know where to begin. At UCLA Health, we know the needs of our unhoused neighbors can’t wait. People experiencing homelessness are more vulnerable to serious medical conditions. Left untreated, these conditions can often create additional barriers to accessing other services that could help improve their lives. UCLA Health is committed to helping everyone in our community. Will you join us? The UCLA Health Homeless Healthcare Collaborative provides urgent care, primary care, psychiatric care, addresses chronic medical conditions, and offers referrals to housing and social services. If you live in L.A., you may have seen our vans, which travel directly to people experiencing homelessness to provide vital medical care. Your donation of any size will go to work immediately, providing clinical services for men, women, and children living on the streets. This care, offered at no cost to the unhoused patients we serve, would not be possible without contributions from our community. Thank you for your support. UCLA Health is dedicated to providing outstanding health care services for everyone — no matter where they live. If you do not wish to receive further fundraising information from UCLA Health Sciences, please either call us at (855) 364-6945 or email us at hsd_optoutucla@mednet.ucla.edu providing your name, address, phone number, email, and from which department you're requesting to be removed. Gifts to the Life Sciences Greatest Needs Fund will help us sustain student and trainee support, preserve faculty research momentum and equip the next generation of scientists with the resources they need to pursue scientific breakthroughs and advancements. With your gift, we can continue to support the brilliant minds in our Division. Thank you for joining us during this year’s Blue & Gold Challenge. Below, you can learn more about the breadth of research conducted by UCLA Life Sciences faculty and alumni. Faculty Research UCLA scientists advance gene therapy for deadly blood disorderLinda Wang, UCLA Newsroom Dr. Donald Kohn and postdoctoral scholar Eva Segura. Thanks to groundbreaking in-utero blood transfusion technology, what was once a fatal diagnosis in the womb can now result in live births. However, this medical advancement created a new challenge: a growing population of children born with that diagnosis — the severe, inherited blood disorder alpha thalassemia — which requires lifelong specialized care. But a UCLA research team led by gene therapy pioneer Dr. Donald Kohn is developing a one-time stem cell gene therapy treatment for this condition that’s potentially curative. The study findings are detailed in Cell Reports Medicine. “This work really began when Dr. Tippi MacKenzie, a pediatric surgeon at UC San Francisco who was treating these cases, reached out to us,” said senior author Kohn, a distinguished professor of microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics and a member of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCLA. “She recognized that our gene therapy approach could be exactly what these children needed.” The team has been awarded a grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine to complete preclinical studies and prepare a pre-investigational new drug package submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the first step toward launching a clinical trial to evaluate the therapy in humans. “More babies with alpha thalassemia major are surviving birth than ever before, thanks to in-utero blood transfusions,” Kohn said. “Now we’re working to give them the chance at a completely normal life, free from a lifetime of medical dependence.” Better treatments for infertility Dr. Amander Clark For people trying to start or build a family, infertility is a devastating diagnosis. UCLA’s Amander Clark, a reproductive scientist and internationally recognized stem cell biologist, is working to change that. Clark has spent her career studying the reproductive organs and the process by which stem cells in the body transform into germ cells, the precursors of egg and sperm cells. The goal, she says, is to better understand the biological basis of people’s reproductive health and fertility and, ultimately, to create functioning egg and sperm cells in the lab by reprogramming a person’s own stem cells — offering hope to the 1 in 6 people worldwide who struggle with infertility. Her ongoing research to improve treatments for infertility have already led to breakthroughs that could make the process of in vitro fertilization more efficient and less painful and improve the viability of implanted embryos. Most recently, Clark and her team developed the first comprehensive “road map” showing how the ovarian reserve forms in primates, providing crucial insights into women’s health that could revolutionize treatments for infertility and hormonal disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome. That reserve — the lifetime supply of eggs that a woman is born with — serves not only as the foundation for reproduction but also as the driver of hormone production in the ovaries. Despite governing so many crucial aspects of women’s health, how this finite supply of eggs actually develops has remained largely a mystery until now. “It’s what enables women to become mothers, girls to progress through puberty, and it acts like a biological clock counting down to menopause,” said Clark, a professor of molecular, cell and developmental biology and director of the UCLA Center for Reproductive Science, Health and Education. “We now have a complete manual that could help scientists create more accurate human ovarian models to better study ovarian disease and dysfunction and develop better treatment options for those who suffer from infertility.” Alumni Research UCLA alumnus Fred Ramsdell wins 2025 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicineTodd Schindler and Nancy Gondo, UCLA Newsroom Fred Ramsdell / Creative Commons Immunologist Frederick J. “Fred” Ramsdell, who earned his doctorate in microbiology and immunology from UCLA in 1987, has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for his groundbreaking work on the human immune system. Ramsdell, a scientific advisor with Sonoma Biotherapeutics in San Francisco, shares the prize with Mary Brunkow of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle and Shimon Sakaguchi of Osaka University in Japan for their collective research on how immune cells known as regulatory T cells prevent the immune system from harming the body’s own tissues. Their discoveries, the Nobel committee noted, have laid the foundation for a new field of research known as peripheral immune tolerance and have spurred the pursuit of regulatory T cell–centered therapeutics in areas like cancer, autoimmune disease and stem cell transplantation. There are currently more than 200 ongoing clinical trials based on their research. “Fred Ramsdell’s research on the immune system has transformed our understanding of autoimmune diseases and led to treatments that are saving lives around the world,” said UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk. “From improving care for conditions like multiple sclerosis to advancing cancer therapies, his work is driving medical breakthroughs that will shape the future of human health. I hope Bruins everywhere take pride in this well-deserved global recognition." Little Bruin Wishes 2025
By Students with Dependents
Make the holiday season magical for our littlest Bruins! Your gift can ensure they have at least one gift to open this year.
Make the holiday season magical for our littlest Bruins! Your gift can ensure they have at least one gift to open this year. Students with Dependents At UCLA, we believe that every Bruin deserves the chance to thrive—not only for themselves, but for the loved ones who rely on them. With over 700 identified caregiving students enrolled at UCLA, Students with Dependents (SwD) Program provides critical resources for Bruins who are raising children, caring for family members, or serving as legal guardians, ensuring they can pursue their education while caring for others. The holiday season is a time of joy and togetherness, but for students balancing school, caregiving, and financial strain, it can also be a source of stress. That’s why we launched Little Bruin Wishes: to bring peace of mind to parenting and caregiving students and brighten the season for their families. Behind every student is a family, and behindevery family is a future shaped by your support This year, we aim to raise $25,000 to support even more Bruins with dependents. Every gift helps provide relief during the holidays and fuels year-round resources like scholarships, emergency funding, and counseling tailored to caregiving students’ unique needs. A Lifeline for Bruins The SwD Program serves a diverse community of students, including parents, guardians, and those caring for elders. These students face unique challenges—yet more than half of parenting Bruins are pursuing graduate-level degrees, showing extraordinary determination to reach their personal and professional goals. Together, we can ensure they don’t have to choose between pursuing a UCLA education and caring for their families. By giving today, you bring joy to Bruin families and strengthen generations of learners to come! Scholarships for UCLA Transfer Students
By Transfer Student Center
Help elevate the transfer student voices and their success at UCLA by donating to the Transfer Student Scholarship Fund.
Help elevate the transfer student voices and their success at UCLA by donating to the Transfer Student Scholarship Fund. Transfer Student Center Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the UCLA Transfer Student Scholarship to provide 5 Bruins with a $2,000 scholarship! UCLA’s Transfer Student Center serves Bruins who began their college career at a different institution and transferred to obtain their degree from UCLA. Transfer is the primary pathway for historically underrepresented students to attend UCLA. Transfers include, students with dependents, veterans, students over 25 returning to their education, first-gen Bruins & many more communities. Our mission is to provide students with programming and support services that connect them to the university and empower them to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals as they progress through their educational journey. The Transfer Student Center is located at 128 Kerckhoff Hall on the first floor. Please stop by and say hi! The UCLA Transfer Student Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship awarded through an application screened by staff volunteers, who are transfer advocates, from across UCLA and selected by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Transfer scholarships are made possible due to the generosity of our Bruin alumni donors and community, and by investing in the UCLA Transfer Scholarship, you will help prospective Bruins achieve their educational goals. Your gift to the Transfer Scholarships fund helps attract some of the most promising students to attend UCLA. At least 1 in 2 students rely on financial assistance to attend UCLA, but the typical packages leave a significant gap in funding, resulting in students taking out loans and part-time jobs that detract from their studies and ability to focus on their professional development. We can do more for our students through scholarship support. Transfer Scholarships help students reduce the amount of money they borrow or pay out of pocket. These scholarships help students spend less time working to pay for their education and more time focusing on their schooling & building valuable professional skill sets in their future career field. You can help students feel financially confident to pursue their passions—setting them on a path for future success. Scholarships provide academic freedom for students to craft an educational experience that is reflective of the unique and complex challenges of our society today. A gift of any amount is going to make a meaningful and immediate difference in helping Transfer Bruins overcome financial hardship and will give them the opportunity to succeed in college and beyond. Just knowing that someone believes in them and cares enough about their future to give toward a scholarship will make a huge difference in their lives. Thank You for Supporting Transfer Students! 46th Annual Vietnamese Culture Night
By Vietnamese Culture Night
Help celebrate the richness of Vietnamese history and community by supporting the 46th Vietnamese Culture Night!
Help celebrate the richness of Vietnamese history and community by supporting the 46th Vietnamese Culture Night! Vietnamese Culture Night On January 18th, 2026, the Vietnamese Student Union at UCLA will proudly present the 46th Annual Vietnamese Culture Night (VCN), a celebration of identity, resilience, and community. Each year, VCN brings together over 1,700 audience members at the historic Royce Hall to witness a powerful showcase of Vietnamese American stories—stories that resonate with both past and present struggles. This year’s production, brought to life by more than 180 dedicated students, will feature breathtaking performances from Vietnamese Traditional and Modern Dance, Awechords Acapella, and a thought-provoking student-written play. Through art, movement, and storytelling, we hope to spark meaningful conversations about the challenges and triumphs that shape the Vietnamese American experience. Join us as we share the heart of our community and inspire a lasting dialogue on the realities and legacies we carry forward. This year's production, VCN 46: Những Điều Chưa Kể (After All This Time), is a reimagining of the story Lan và Ðiêp, the tragic tale immortalized in novel and song, as seen through the eyes of Lan's granddaughter. This is a story of the silence that lingers after heartbreak and the generations that inherit it. Through their family's journey, audiences are invited to uncover truths long buried and to explore the many perfectly imperfect ways to love. It asks what remains when love goes unspoken and what can still be found when we begin to ask the right questions. This year’s production aims to be our largest yet, with our budget amounting to almost $53,000! Below is a budget breakdown of this year’s production expenses. By supporting, you directly help to get us one step closer to the Royce Hall stage! Every donation plays a vital role in bringing Vietnamese Culture Night to life, helping cover essential production supplies and facility costs that make our show possible. If you're part of a company, business, or organization and would like to make a larger impact, we offer a range of tax-deductible sponsorship opportunities with exciting benefits. By partnering with us, you'll not only support an unforgettable cultural event but also connect with our community. For more details, please contact our Fiscal Head, Kaylena Vuong, at fiscal.vcn.ucla@gmail.com - we'd love to have you on board! Our production is empowered by all of its student-run component teams: Through a beautiful set design and student-acted drama production, our Drama, Backstage, and Sound components aim to bring this year’s story to life on the Royce Hall stage. Our Performance components bring color, motion, and music to our story, featuring powerful performances from Vietnamese Traditional Dance, Moditional Dance, and Awechords Acapella, as well as surprise guest performances that will further explore our Vietnamese culture. Working to make everything happen, our Fiscal Component manages our production’s finances, plans and runs fundraisers, and develops amazing partnerships with company sponsors, UCLA, and generous members of our wide-reaching community, including people like you! Wrapping it all together, our Publicity Component helps showcase the beauty in every aspect of our production to you and our community, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come. On behalf of the Vietnamese Student Union at UCLA and everyone here on the 46th Annual Vietnamese Culture Night cast, thank you for your support! Beyond that, UCLA Women's Club Soccer is a family. We make time to have fun with each other, such as movie nights, living together, beach runs, and singing sessions in the car. Off the field, we have become close friends and made connections that will endure long after graduation. IMPORTANCE OF FUNDRAISING As a student-run club, we rely on member dues and community support. Thanks to the generosity of our friends, families, and alumni, we raise thousands of dollars each year to cover essential expenses such as equipment, tournament fees, and travel. However, due to costs accumulated in previous seasons, our club currently carries debt. We are actively working to overcome this financial challenge through continued fundraising and responsible budgeting, ensuring a strong foundation for future teams. NATIONALS This year, we have secured another bid to return to Nationals in Kansas! Our goal is to raise $10,000, most of which will go to covering travel expenses for the trip. Before Nationals, we play a Regional Tournament at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which requires lodging and travel expenses. Anything you can give to help us make it to Kansas is greatly appreciated. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS 2021: Placed 1st in league. Support Bruin Formula Racing's 2025-26 competition season! Bruin Formula Racing Hi all! We are Bruin Formula Racing, UCLA’s Formula SAE racing team, and every year we design, manufacture, test, and race our formula-style car against teams from around the world in the competition put on by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) to encourage the hands-on application of engineering principles taught in our classes. Just like the teams you see in Formula 1, we have an entire team of innovative engineers, business and marketing specialists, and administrative powerhouses. But what makes it even more incredible…it’s ALL run by full time students excelling in both the classroom and on track! As a student team, every donation counts and makes our dream of seeing our car running on track possible. We are so grateful for our donors and their generosity and look forward to making you proud this season! There is a lot of cool engineering that makes a car run, let alone race. All of the bells and whistles that make our car ZOOM are designed and built by our engineering team. Our engineers apply the concepts they learned in class to a real life, full scale, competing racecar! The engineering department covers a wide range of different disciplines: mechanical, electrical, aerodynamics, chemical, material science, software, data science, mathematics, and machining, just to name a few. With 11 different subteams, there is a place for everyone pursue their interests, learn something new, and innovate new, exciting vehicle technology! Over an accelerated one-year design/build cycle, our engineers own their designs from start to finish, designing, manufacturing, testing, and validating their components and subsystems. At the end of the year, all of the engineering comes to life in the final result -- a fully fledged, lightning quick racecar! Coming off of our highest engineering design score in team history at our last competition, our engineering team is eager to build an even better racecar this upcoming year. Bruin Formula Racing could not be successful without all of the administrative and managing infrastructure provided by the business and marketing teams. Their efforts keep our team running like a well-oiled machine (no pun intended). Within business and marketing, team members procure team funding and resources, coordinate sponsorships and industry relationships, design team merchandise, organize team branding and social media presence, and keep our team operating smoothly. The framework and structure provided by our administrative team members bridges the gap between our dreams and our reality, allowing us to build an amazing, competitive vehicle! With more development and expansion of our business and marketing committees, these teams continue to grow and leave a lasting impact on our organization. Our organization is open to all! Our members come from all backgrounds, majors, ages...but we all share a passion for building the best racecar. Bruin Formula Racing cares about making engineering accessible and welcoming to all. We design specific trainings and projects to teach our members the necessary skills to be successful in the workplace. No previous experience or any type of membership dues are needed; we want to make sure that engineering is an accessible space where all can learn and grow. Although we put a lot of hard work into our car, we also take time to have fun! Whether it's karting at K1, a beach bonfire, or just hanging out on a food run, we love to spend time with each other. Bruin Formula Racing is more than just a club, it's our own little family! Support UCLA Wrestling's 2025-2026 Season!
By UCLA Wrestling
Help our wrestlers to compete in (and win!) tournaments throughout the 2025-2026 season!
Help our wrestlers to compete in (and win!) tournaments throughout the 2025-2026 season! UCLA Wrestling Who we are: Hello, we are UCLA Wrestling! We are a community of passionate UCLA students interested in the sport of wrestling. We meet multiple times a week at the John Wooden Center at UCLA, training and competing in both folkstyle and freestyle wrestling throughout the year. We regularly host/attend dual meets, and we travel to tournaments as part of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA). Our team welcomes all UCLA students interested in the sport, regardless of experience level! Our first week of practice for the 2025-2026 season! Your donation will help our wrestlers to compete in (and win!) tournaments. In the past, we've competed at tournaments in Sacramento, San Jose, Menlo Park, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Louisiana. Last year, we brought home two more All-American finishes. Just two years ago, we had two All-American finishes and even crowned the first national champion in our program's history! You can find everything we have planned for this season here. How your support helps: Your donation goes directly to helping UCLA register in, travel to, and secure lodging for tournaments across the nation. Our costs are not covered by UCLA's athletics department, so we rely heavily on your donations and support! We want to make wrestling at UCLA bigger than ever-- we want: to be able to host more wrestling clinics in high schools throughout California to have nicer apparel/merchandise for our wrestlers, fans, and aspiring Bruin athletes to have more assistant coaches, both in the wrestling room and out at tournaments to recruit more women and push for a women's NCAA team here at UCLA Thank you for supporting our student-athletes and for contributing to our program and California wrestling as a whole! Olympic Weightlifting Road to Nationals 2025-2026
By Olympic Weightlifting
Help support Olympic Weightlifting's 2025-2026 season!
Help support Olympic Weightlifting's 2025-2026 season! Olympic Weightlifting Support our athletes on our journey to the 2026 USA Weightlifting National University Championships! In April 2026, we aim to send over a dozen athletes to Salt Lake City, Utah, to represent UCLA on a national stage against over 135 universities from around the country. Our UCLA Club Olympic Weightlifting Team is a group of over 50 athletes from a range of athletic backgrounds and experience levels. Our undergraduate, Master's, and PhD athletes train 4-6 times a week, for 6-12 hours with specialized coaching and programming in the snatch and clean & jerk by our passionate student coaches, while maintaining rigorous academic schedules. As a UCLA Club Sport, we compete at the local, national, and international level. Our fully student-run team comprises weightlifters with a wide range of experience: from a month to a decade, and from barbell beginners to Team USA. This year, our team has significantly grown in size, therefore greatly increasing costs in all aspects of our club. Your contributions will directly benefit our athletes at all levels, by providing training equipment, competition attire, meet registration fees, and of course, travel costs. With your support last year, we raised over $5000 and were able to send 8 athletes to the USAW National University Championships in Columbus, Ohio, in our first year as a club sport team. Now, we once again need your support to bring our athletes to the national stage. We aim to reach our potential within the growing sport of Olympic Weightlifting, and inspire our fellow students both at UCLA and beyond. Every donation helps us along on our journey as our weightlifters chase their goals. Help Fund Enigma at UCLA's 40th Anniversary
By Enigma at UCLA
Enigma is celebrating its 40th anniversary, a massive event on Jan. 16-19, 2026! Donations will go to food, venues, and equipment for the weekend's activities.
Enigma is celebrating its 40th anniversary, a massive event on Jan. 16-19, 2026! Donations will go to food, venues, and equipment for the weekend's activities. Enigma at UCLA Who are we?If you're here you likely already know what Enigma is. In case you're new or need a refresher, Enigma is the premier club for sci-fi + fantasy, board games, RPGs, and other related things at UCLA. We provide an inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy these hobbies with people who share their interests. We had our first meeting in 1986, which means our 40th Anniversary is coming up next year. To celebrate, we will be hosting a four-day event featuring a boatload of activities and multiple free meals, open to all past and current members! It will a wonderful opportunity for our members to reconnect with each other and reminisce about what makes our club special while enjoying the activities we planned out for the long weekend. What's the problem? Given the scale of the event we have planned, we require a bit of funding in order to book venues and equipment, pay for food, and just generally ensure everything runs smoothly at minimal inconvenience to our attendees. Given that many of our activities will take place outside of UCLA, we can't rely on their funding for everything, nor would it be enough to cover our needs. As a result, we're asking for (tax-deductible!) donations from you, Enigma's past and current members, to help fund our 40th anniversary celebration. How can you help? We anticipate needing a minimum of $10,000 to cover all of our needs. Any extra will allow us to cover more expenses for attendees, such as independent activities and food on Sunday. A visual breakdown of anticipated costs is included below. As you can see, your donation will help ensure Enigmans will be able to reach our planned activities, be well-fed during them, and have the equipment to properly enjoy them. In particular, if you plan to attend the anniversary, your donation will go directly to improving your experience. We welcome any amount you're willing to contribute, even a small donation could be an extra chair or meal Enigmafolk won't need to worry about. We're grateful for your help in making a successful anniversary celebration! The Modern Math Teacher Circle Initiative
By The Curtis Center
Your support will help create engaging, modern math lessons for secondary students that align with classroom standards.
Your support will help create engaging, modern math lessons for secondary students that align with classroom standards. The Curtis Center Math is for all of us. Imagine a world in which every high school student could tell you how real people use the mathematics they are learning in school to solve real societal problems. Current analysis indicates that the probability of students engaging with higher-order, real-world applications in school is less than 0.25% (Schmidt et al., 2022)*. Hungarian mathematician Paul Halmos famously said, “The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics.” Unfortunately, American students are rarely asked to do mathematics and are concurrently struggling to learn mathematics. * An international study analyzing nearly 57,000 eighth-grade textbook exercises across 19 countries found that a mere 0.25% of the problems involved higher-order real-world applications. We are building a community of researchers, local teachers, and undergraduates who create and implement modern mathematics lessons that engage students in doing mathematics and show them how UCLA researchers use math to solve real societal problems. The work takes place in three phases: CreatePilotDisseminateUsing a Japanese Collaborative Lesson Research protocol, teams of UCLA graduate students, Curtis Center mathematics education specialists, and local teachers design lessons that translate contexts and elements of current research activity for high school students. Teacher-authors pilot the lessons in their own classrooms, with the authoring team in attendance. In Saturday meetings of a “Modern Math Teacher Circle”, authoring teams train local teachers and UCLA Math for Teaching undergraduates to implement the lessons in additional local classrooms. Our objective is to raise $27,000 for the Modern Math Teacher Circle initiative. Your gift will provide: stipends for teacher and graduate student researcher time to meet together to create the modern math lessons collaboratively; travel expenses for the authoring team to attend the lesson pilots Your gift will immediately impact over 1,000 local high school students, 35 UCLA undergraduates, two graduate students, and 34 local public school teachers and has the potential to impact many more as the lessons created are disseminated across the country. Within the UCLA community, The Curtis Center teaches mathematics majors interested in a career in mathematics education. Beyond the university, The Curtis Center works with teachers to increase K-12 student access to authentic and rigorous mathematical activity. Since 2007, The Curtis Center has partnered with nearly 40 rural and urban schools and districts across California, the majority of which serve predominantly historically underrepresented students, and has supported over 10,000 teachers. Through its curriculum and national assessment development, the Center has impacted over 177K teachers and 19M students. ►Instructions for giving via Donor Advised Fund, wire transfer, stocks/securities, etc. can be found here. All gifts to the Curtis Center are directed through the UCLA Foundation (Tax ID# 95-2250801). For general giving questions, please contact Loida De Leon at ldeleon@support.ucla.edu or (310) 405-3043. UCLA's Affordability Initiative Scholarship Fund
By UCLA Scholarships
Join UCLA’s Affordability Initiative and help ensure that every deserving student can attend UCLA, regardless of financial circumstances.
Join UCLA’s Affordability Initiative and help ensure that every deserving student can attend UCLA, regardless of financial circumstances. UCLA Scholarships What sets UCLA apart as a top public university is our principle of ensuring that deserving students, regardless of financial circumstances, can pursue a world-class education. UCLA enrolls more low-income students than all Ivy League schools combined and has a graduation rate of over 90% for first-generation college freshmen. * Sources: https://financialaid.ucla.edu/ Studies show that today 43 million Americans hold federal student loans, taking an average of 10 years to repay them. Not only is student debt a collective concern across the country, but this can prevent or detour many individuals from pursuing the opportunities that higher education has to offer in the first place. Through the Affordability Initiative, UCLA is working toward a bold vision: to provide pathways to a debt-free education for all students by 2030. Your gift directly supports the mission of UCLA being an accessible environment to recruit the best and the brightest. This isn’t just about covering tuition; it’s about giving all deserving students an equal chance to pursue their passions and create a better future. The Affordability Initiative preserves the excellence in differences that make UCLA’s environment so unique. Students share that beyond academics, UCLA has transformed their perspectives simply by being immersed in a community of people from different backgrounds and experiences. Your gift has the power to influence the trajectory of an individual's life, illuminating paths forward and unlocking new opportunities. At UCLA, we see every day how access to higher education empowers students. The positive impact of a college experience continues to shape individuals, inspire change and cultivate role models within families, communities, and society. By contributing, you join a community dedicated to creating a brighter future for our students, their families, and the communities they impact, helping UCLA uphold its values and share the ripple effect of generosity. Your gift helps UCLA remain a leader in higher education; recruiting and retaining the best and brightest students and transforming the landscape of higher education. Your generosity changes lives, nurtures hope and builds the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. Together, we cultivate the next generation who inspire change. We are immensely grateful for your dedicated support on behalf of our inspiring students. A special thank you to Roger Lee for our incredible video. An investment in UCLA Humanities' most flexible fund allows our team to direct dollars to where they can do the most good for our students, faculty and public. UCLA College Humanities WHO WE ARE The UCLA College Division of Humanities believes that to study the humanities is to deeply explore the human condition – centering critical thinking, empathetic practices, and engagement with texts and materials to better understand the past while creatively reimagining the future. We recognize the immense power of language and writing to provide meaning and connection across the human experience. Those beliefs are reflected in our guiding principle, “Word to World.” Through rigorous inquiry and exploration, the UCLA College Division of Humanities aims to cultivate thoughtful, compassionate individuals who appreciate the complexities of the human experience, contribute to the well-being of society and are best equipped to navigate the challenges of an interconnected world. Support the UCLA Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC)
By UCLA College Humanities
Invest in helping undergraduates strengthen and refine their writing skills with the help of trained Peer Learning Facilitators through our free UWC services.
Invest in helping undergraduates strengthen and refine their writing skills with the help of trained Peer Learning Facilitators through our free UWC services. UCLA College Humanities WHO WE ARE The UCLA Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC)'s mission is to enrich the education of undergraduates in all disciplines through individualized consultations on writing. Its goal is not only to assist students with particular writing assignments, but also to enable them to become more effective and confident writers by helping them: (1) gain insight into how they write most productively and efficiently, and (2) meet the intellectual, rhetorical, and conventional demands of specific writing tasks. In the age of generative AI, the UWC serves a purpose more vital than ever, helping students feel confident in their own voices and ability to shape and articulate their ideas. The UWC's services are free and accessible to the entire undergraduate student body at UCLA. The Undergraduate Writing Center is staffed by undergraduate Peer Learning Facilitators (PLFs), themselves accomplished academic writers, who are trained to work collaboratively with other students, helping them discover, explore, and express their ideas clearly. New PLFs receive approximately 20 hours of training over the year; returning PLFs receive approximately 14 hours of training annually. Through their roles, PLFs hone their ability to teach and guide, while also sharpening their writing and professional skills. WHAT WE DO Skilled Peer Learning Facilitators (PLFs) hold 50- or 25-minute one-on-one, in-person appointments and also provide online writing consultations or consultations via email, meeting their peers where they are and in the medium they most prefer when they need support with written assignments — be they class papers, resumes, graduate school applications, scholarship essays, lab reports, etc. — at no cost. The UWC supports students who want to develop their own writing and critical thinking skills rather than relying on generative AI. HOW YOU CAN HELP Your investment in the Undergraduate Writing Center is an investment in writing confidence for undergraduate students campus-wide and the skilled Peer Learning Facilitators who help their peers navigate an array of writing assignments while also juggling their own schoolwork and building their professional portfolios. Show your support during UCLA's 14th annual Blue & Gold Challenge, which brings alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends of the university together in the spirit of generosity to invest in all the areas of campus that are meaningful to them. Support AAP’s Critical Needs
By Academic Advancement Program
Support the program empowering first-generation, low-income and historically underrepresented students at UCLA for over 50 years.
Support the program empowering first-generation, low-income and historically underrepresented students at UCLA for over 50 years. Academic Advancement Program The Academic Advancement Program leads the campus in promoting access, equity, opportunity and excellence for all UCLA students. Over more than 50 years, tens of thousands of proud alumni have walked through Campbell Hall, attended tutoring or peer learning sessions, received counseling and mentorship, and found a community of care and excellence. However, funding challenges have caused AAP to pause vital services and delay much-needed equipment updates, even as enrollment continues to grow. Now, AAP is calling on the UCLA community to help support our work in this crucial time. And thanks to a generous fellow supporter, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. We have reached our full match of $25,000! If just 5% of our AAP alumni give $10 or more, we will surpass our fundraising goal for the year. And if we reach our goal of $50,000, we will also unlock an additional $5,000 for AAP student scholarships! Growing AAP enrollment and declining funding has strained multiple AAP programs. We need your help to bridge the gap and expand our reach. Peer Learning Peer Learning provides group sessions for students to work through coursework together, guided by a trained Peer Learning Facilitator (PLF). Your gift can directly help update and replace Peer Learning's equipment and supplies, including dry erase boards, projectors, new tables to seat additional students in labs, and other basic school supplies. You can also help AAP to hire more Peer Learning Lab Coordinators and PLFs, ensuring course offerings stay large and group sizes small. Computer Lounge Campbell Hall's computer lounge gives students access to computers, Wi-Fi, and printing services, but its hours have been reduced due to lack of funding for staff. Your can help increase access and maintain this valuable student resource. Counseling AAP offers specialized academic counseling for our students, meeting them where they're at and ensuring they have the tools and support needed to succeed. Your gift can support additional staff hours to ensure student needs are met as soon as possible. Student Professional Development AAP has had to pause the Graduate and Professional Service unit, which provides undergraduate students and alumni with research opportunities and postgraduate support. Your gift can help bridge the gap in this time of need, providing students with resources like funds for graduate school applications. Dr. Charles Alexander, affectionately known by students as “Dr. A”, retired in June after nearly 20 years of service as AAP's director. One of his many achievements as director included overseeing the development of the AAP Learning Pavilion in Campbell Hall in 2015. This made a dedicated space for peer learning with learning labs, technology-rich workstations and meeting spaces for peer learning and mentorship. To honor Dr. A's nearly 20 years of service to AAP, we established the Dr. Charles Alexander AAP Legacy Fund: a new fund to sustain programs like Peer Learning that Dr. A championed. Donations to this campaign will be housed in this new fund, directly supporting AAP's most critical needs. One of AAP's most crucial student resources is the Peer Learning Unit. Every year, Peer Learning trains 130+ high-achieving UCLA students (many in AAP themselves) to work as Peer Learning Facilitators, provides peer learning sessions to almost 2,000 students each week, and offers free workshops to more than 5,600 AAP students every year through its Math/Sciences and Humanities/Social Sciences labs. PLFs are also guides and mentors to help students navigate the many complicated aspects of campus life -- this is especially critical for first-generation students. For the many AAP students who want to strengthen their academic skills, get individualized help, and deepen their understanding of course material, this unit is a vital part of the UCLA experience. We asked some of our students what peer learning means to them: "Peer learning provides a space focused on both self-reflection and self-growth. As a peer and as a facilitator, I have seen firsthand how both sides contribute to a desire to improve as a student. Without these programs, I would feel less at home on campus." - Anthony P., Third-Year Political Science and Sociology student. “Peer learning has given me opportunities for extra practice and access to resources that I would not gain from the class itself. The opportunity to make friends in a smaller setting that I can study with and be confused with is invaluable. I also appreciate having each PLF as a guide for class content as well as other UCLA questions." "I use AAP PLFs because they are accessible both financially and in general, extremely effective and helpful in understanding course materials, allows for impromptu mentoring between older PLF’s and younger attendees, and allows me to feel more connected to the BIPOC UCLA community." Support Psychology Research and Mentorship Through PROPS
By UCLA Psychology
Support PROPS and help psychology undergraduates gain access to life-changing mentorship and research opportunities.
Support PROPS and help psychology undergraduates gain access to life-changing mentorship and research opportunities. UCLA Psychology For over three decades, the UCLA Psychology Research Opportunities Program (PROPS) has provided invaluable resources to undergraduate students. Through PROPS, students receive mentorship and guidance from graduate mentors and gain the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research under the direction of our world-class faculty. Students also receive a stipend during the two-quarter program, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent them from engaging in hands-on lab research and mentorship opportunities. Since its inception in 1990, PROPS has served over 650 students, and our goal is to grow the program to provide these invaluable resources to more undergraduates. With your support, we can continue to provide transformative opportunities for rising psychology students. Thank you for joining us during this year’s Blue & Gold Challenge. Below you can learn more about our impact from PROPS alumni. PROPS Alumni "PROPS has provided me with essential tools and experiences to thrive as a researcher and scholar. I learned how to write research papers effectively, participated in professional development workshops, and developed strategies to manage stress through mental health sessions and team collaboration with my classmates. The mentorship I received was essential, guiding me through the complexities of my research and career planning." - Sullivan S., Class of 2024 “The mentorship and knowledge I received from PROPS helped me immensely in getting my research job post-graduation, and it will continue to be a huge help when I apply to Ph.D. programs in clinical psychology. UCLA Scholarships 2026: Pathways to a Debt-Free Education
By UCLA Scholarships
Join UCLA’s Affordability Initiative and help ensure that every deserving student can attend UCLA, regardless of financial circumstances.
Join UCLA’s Affordability Initiative and help ensure that every deserving student can attend UCLA, regardless of financial circumstances. UCLA Scholarships What sets UCLA apart is its commitment to ensuring that talented students, regardless of financial circumstances, have access to a world-class education. As the nation's most applied-to university, UCLA pairs academic excellence with a dedication to accessibility, enrolling more low-income students than all Ivy League institutions combined. By creating pathways for students from every background to succeed, UCLA fosters a community where opportunity and achievement go hand in hand. * Sources: https://financialaid.ucla.edu/ For too many students, the cost of higher education can influence not only where they attend college, but whether they pursue their aspirations at all. Affordability is about more than reducing debt. It is about ensuring that talent and potential are not constrained by financial circumstances. Scholarship support helps remove obstacles, expand opportunities, and give students the freedom to fully engage in the experiences that define a UCLA education. When financial barriers are lifted, students can focus on learning, leadership, discovery, and building a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Through the Affordability Initiative, UCLA is pursuing a bold goal: creating pathways to a debt-free education for all students by 2030. Building on UCLA's longstanding commitment to access and excellence, this university-wide effort seeks to expand scholarship support and strengthen the resources that help students succeed. By investing in affordability, UCLA is ensuring that future generations of Bruins can benefit from the opportunities of a world-class education. Every gift to scholarships advances this vision and helps move UCLA closer to a brighter tomorrow where financial circumstances never limit student potential today. Sources: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/ucla-1315 and https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-top-ranked-public-university-eight-straight-years For many students, particularly those who demonstrate financial need, the cost of attending college extends far beyond tuition. Housing, food, transportation, course materials, and other living expenses can create significant challenges that affect both academic success and overall well-being. Scholarship support helps remove these obstacles by easing the financial pressures students and families face. With greater financial stability, students can spend less time worrying about making ends meet and more time focusing on their education, pursuing opportunities, and fully engaging in the UCLA experience. By helping address the hidden costs of college, scholarships provide students with the freedom to focus on learning, discovery, and personal growth rather than financial uncertainty. For many students and families, the financial realities of college continue long after a student arrives on campus. Whether balancing the cost of supporting multiple children through higher education or managing competing financial responsibilities, many families benefit from additional scholarship support. Scholarships help close the gap between attending UCLA and fully participating in the UCLA experience. From research and internships to leadership opportunities and professional development, scholarship support empowers students to take advantage of the experiences that enrich their education and prepare them for future success. The impact of a scholarship extends far beyond a single student. A UCLA education can transform the trajectory of an individual's life, opening doors to new opportunities, and creating pathways to long-term success. The benefits of higher education often reach beyond the student, strengthening families, expanding economic mobility, and creating opportunities that can be passed from one generation to the next. Students who benefit from scholarship support go on to become mentors, advocates, innovators, educators, and leaders who positively influence the communities around them. As they build careers, pursue advanced opportunities, and support those who follow in their footsteps, the impact of a scholarship continues to grow. On act of generosity can create a lasting ripple effect, empowering students, uplifting families, strengthening communities, and helping shape a brighter future for generations to come. A special thank you to Roger Lee for our incredible video. Thank you to all the scholarship recipients who shared their stores.
