Champion Humanities at UCLA
WHO WE ARE
The UCLA College Division of Humanities believes that to study the humanities is to deeply explore the human condition – centering critical thinking, empathetic practices, and engagement with texts and materials to better understand the past while creatively reimagining the future. We recognize the immense power of language and writing to provide meaning and connection across the human experience. Those beliefs are reflected in our guiding principle, “Word to World.”
Through rigorous inquiry and exploration, the UCLA College Division of Humanities aims to cultivate thoughtful, compassionate individuals who appreciate the complexities of the human experience, contribute to the well-being of society and are best equipped to navigate the challenges of an interconnected world.
WHAT WE DO
The UCLA College Division of Humanities is UCLA’s place of discovery. We foster a lively community of ideas in which our students find their voices, values and callings in the world. The division boasts 44 unique majors and 35 minors and serves over 2,095 undergraduate students and 425 graduate students. Our vibrant alumni community is 60,000 strong and counting.
