Timmy Global Health Service Trip to Quito

Our Global Health chapter at UCLA is proud to be affiliated with Timmy Global Health, an international non-profit dedicated to improving access to healthcare. We provide service opportunities for students of all majors and ages in the local LA area as well as an opportunity for an international service trip each summer, supported by this fundraiser.

Our executive board this year includes (left to right) Bridgette Mertzel, Isabel Consoli, Sloane Richie, Elle Thompson, Alyssa Bilinsky, Sophie Cacdac, and Francesca Parodi (not pictured). Through our individual roles, we work together to create educational, advocacy, and service opportunities that empower students to make a meaningful impact in global health.

Why we fundraise

This past summer we partnered with Tierra Nueva in Quito, Ecuador where we offered medical services to about 430 patients through our 5 clinics throughout 5 rural communities! We are looking forward to returning to Quito, Ecuador for our service trip this year, where we aim to build sustainable partnerships in underserved communities and foster a long-term impact.

Help support our members with their passion for serving others and increasing the accessibility to healthcare on a global scale! Since the trip is entirely paid for out of pocket, donations make this trip possible and financially accessible for members of our club. By providing the medical supplies and staff, we ensure that the community can visit our clinics without facing financial barriers. The more donations we receive, the more patients we can treat. Everything helps and is thoroughly appreciated!

What we do

Throughout the school year, we host educational, advocacy, and service-oriented events that encourage students to actively engage with their Los Angeles community. Our service events have included volunteering at food kitchens, community gardens, and homeless shelters. We also invite guest speakers from organizations such as End Overdose, Gift of Life, Days for Girls, and the Everyday Responder Project to educate our members during our meetings on pressing health issues. Additionally, we host social events that bring members together to create items that give back to the community, including hygiene kits for the LA Food Bank and cards for children battling life-threatening illnesses.
