UCLA Dragon Boat Tackles Tempe!

UCLA Dragon Boat is a student-run competitive club sports team. Founded in 2004, our team prides itself on building a diverse and tight-knit community of students who are committed to and embody the spirit of competition and excellence. We are 50 paddlers strong, making up two race crews: Blue and Gold.

As a student-run team, our paddlers are continuously concerned about finances. From registration fees and accommodation for race events, to transportation and equipment fees during weekly practices, the majority of the team’s operating expenses come out of our students’ own pockets. Your support will help the team pursue our passion for paddling without the financial stress.

Our initial goal focuses on funding our upcoming race in Tempe this spring. At this race, we will be competing against fellow local and international dragon boat teams. In addition to the hefty race registration fees, transportation, housing, equipment, and other expenses generate significant costs to ensure a successful race experience. But with your help, we can make it happen!

This is where YOU come in! By donating to our campaign, you will not only help alleviate team expenses at this festival, but also contribute to the long tradition and larger Dragon Boat community.

The Tempe international race is one that not only allows our paddlers to experience a higher level of competition but also brings great memories of interstate travel and connections with global teams.  It has been a favorite race for many paddlers, and we hope to be able to extend this experience to many more paddlers.

Thanks to our generous donors, our previous Crowdfunding campaign raised over $7,000 — 130% of our original goal and the highest amount raised in UCLA Dragon Boat history! With those funds, we were able to alleviate race fees for our summer crew, cover housing costs, reduce annual fees, and help bring more paddlers to more races. We'd like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who donated during our 2025 campaign.
