Support AIM at UCLA's 5th Annual Taking AIM Conference!

As students training to enter healthcare, we see firsthand how inequities shape who gets care, and who doesn’t. The Taking AIM Conference is our way of turning classroom learning into community-centered action.

Who We Are

Advocating Intersectional Medicine (AIM) at UCLA is a student-run organization founded in 2020 by undergraduates passionate about equity in healthcare. We believe that future healthcare providers must understand how race, class, housing, immigration status, and other social factors directly affect health outcomes. Through research, education, and advocacy, we work to prepare students to practice medicine that is informed, compassionate, and just.

About our Taking AIM Conference

One of our most meaningful initiatives is the Taking AIM Conference, an annual event planned and led entirely by students. The conference creates a space where students and community members come together to learn, share research, and engage in conversations about health disparities that affect our local and global communities.

The Problem

Health disparities are often discussed in theory, but many students and community members lack accessible spaces to engage with these issues in a practical, meaningful way. Topics like food and housing insecurity, systemic racism in healthcare, and global health inequities are real and urgent—but they are not always addressed in ways that empower people to take action.

The Taking AIM Conference bridges this gap by centering student research and lived experiences in a community-focused setting. Past conferences have highlighted issues such as healthcare access, structural inequities, and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. By creating an open, educational environment, we aim to inspire attendees to become informed advocates and to carry these conversations into their future careers and communities.

How You Can Help

Your donation helps make the 5th Annual Taking AIM Conference possible and accessible to all. Contributions support essential conference needs such as securing event spaces, providing educational materials, hosting interactive workshops, and ensuring attendees are welcomed with food and resources throughout the day.

With your support, we can continue offering a free, inclusive event where students present their work, engage in dialogue, and learn how to advocate for communities that are often left out of healthcare conversations. Your generosity allows us, as students, to transform our passion for health equity into tangible impact and to build a future in healthcare that centers justice, education, and community care.
