Help Bruins Study Abroad

As Bruins return for fall classes, many are dreaming of studying abroad before they graduate. Traveling in college opens doors to new cultures, friendships, and perspectives that last a lifetime.

But too often, the cost keeps this opportunity out of reach. Hundreds of UCLA students each year want to study abroad, but airfare, housing, meals, passports, visas, and program fees add up quickly. You can help more students study abroad, and enrich the experience for those who are. You can be the difference!

How You Can Help

Your support will help ensure that financial limitations don't stand in the way of global learning and exploration. You can help cover the cost of program fees, living expenses, airfare, even getting a passport. Funding not only will allow more students to study abroad in the first place, but also allow them to make the most of it. You can help a student visit an extra museum, or take a cooking class, or go on an excursion to a historic site that brings their studies to life. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps turn a study abroad trip into a richer, more fulfilling journey.

Your support will allow more students to have critical opportunities to immerse themselves in new cultures, learn new languages, and gain invaluable international experience that will help them become global citizens. As thanks, you can receive a special UCLA Study Abroad luggage tag when you give $25 or more, or a UCLA Study Abroad tech organizer for gifts of $75 or more! Every dollar brings us closer to our $15,000 goal!

Our Stories

Studying abroad opens up so many doors for our students. With your support, more students can have experiences like these:

"The aspect of [The Global Internship Program] that was unique was the high level of trust and level of responsibility that I was given as a foreign intern. From building significant features to joining dinners chaired by the CEO, I truly felt included and challenged, which are experiences that made a significant impact on my understanding of self-confidence and perspective.

"The UCLA Travel Study scholarship profoundly assisted my experience in exploring the world. It was a great relief for my family and me only to have to focus on paying for a ticket to go to France. Studying abroad in Paris, France, was a full-circle moment for me. In my senior year of high school, I was supposed to study abroad in France, but the school cancelled our plans because the administration could not afford to take both French students and Spanish students on an immersive trip. I was very disappointed because I loved studying French and wanted to improve my skills in the country. Fortunately, the Travel Study scholarship allowed my dreams of studying abroad in Paris to come true. It allowed me to truly immerse myself in Parisian culture without stressing about my finances."

Your Gift In Action

Earlier this year, our generous community funded our first-ever "passport caravan": a free event for students to apply for passports right on campus, free of charge. Over the course of the day, 34 students completed and submitted passport applications with the in-person help of passport agents — and had all associated fees covered. Funding for the event came from last year's crowdfunding campaign -- this is our community's support in action!

Our Gift To You

To thank you for your generous support, we have a few gifts of our own. For gifts of $25 or more, you will receive your very own UCLA Study Abroad luggage tag for use in your own travels abroad. For gifts of $75 or more, you will also get a UCLA Study Abroad Tech Organizer, to keep all your things in one place while you travel. Represent UCLA Study Abroad while looking stylish! If you give $1,000 or more, you will also be recognized as a member of the UCLA Chancellor's Society, where you can join exclusive donor-appreciation events and receive dedicated Chancellor's Society communications.
