The 2025 Geography Innovation Forum at UCLA is an ambitious panel and career fair event for members of the UCLA community and local community college students. The event will take place from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, May 22nd.
The first part of the Forum will consist of a panel event, featuring the theme of “Metal Age Geographies and the Innovation of Tomorrow.” We will be hearing from UCLA Geography Professor Dr. Kelly Kay, and she will be joined by other members of the UCLA community in this collaborative panel discussion.
Discussion will revolve around questions such as: how do material infrastructures—including minerals, metals, labor, and land—shape visions of global power dynamics, climate resilience, technological futures, and urban possibility? How do minerals, metals, labor, and land shape narratives of climate resilience, innovation, and urban possibility—and whose voices are included or excluded in those stories?
This will be followed by presentations from leading geospatial // GIS technology startups and companies, who will then present in the event space. We are really excited to share the partnerships we have made for this event: stay posted for more information on our socials!
