That's a wrap! UCLA Dragon Boat had a memorable race weekend on April 22nd in Long Beach, CA! Coming home to our original practice site, the team arrived with an eager fire in their hearts to show the world how we have grown since the beginning of the year! Gold Boat made great strides over the past few months as they took home bronze in the Mixed 500m Division B while  Blue Boat proved themselves after a rough start, blowing away the competition also in the Division B final, taking home gold with a 6 second lead! At the end of the day, the team returned home with smiles on their faces, a sense of great accomplishment, a new sense of unity, and a belly full of Korean BBQ! This race to cap off all the races of the academic year couldn't have been possible without the support of all our family, friends, alumni, and peers! We are beyond thankful and overwhelmed by the level of support and love each and everyone of you have shown up! In a team sport like dragon boat, it truly takes the help of everyone to pull us through to the finish line and we are glad everyone got to play a role in that!

Dragon Boat is the ultimate team sport! It is truly a magical and awe inspiring thing to see what can be accomplished with teamwork! This is it! The final push! We are coming into the final hours of our SPARK Campaign! With just under $300 left to fund raise, we are so close to reaching our goal of $2500 to help reduce the financial burden of racing on our student athletes. If you have already donated thanks again! After a long season of training and practice, all of our hard work culminated this past weekend at the 15th Annual Arizona Dragon Boat Festival in Tempe, AZ. After finishing the quarter with finals, the team drove 400 miles to compete! Despite facing many challenges and obstacles along the way UCLA Dragon Boat demonstrated an awe inspiring level of fight and passion for one another and the sport. Facing tough adversaries from across the nation, UCLA Dragon Boat fought valiantly. Both crews advanced into College 500m Championships with UCLA Blue placing 2nd overall. Gold Boat had a successful weekend, taking home silver in both Mixed 500m Division B Finals and in the 250m Division B Knockout Race. Blue Boat carried their momentum through to the Mixed 500m Division A Finals as they clinched silver and dominated the competition in the 250m Division A Knockout Race taking home the gold! This weekend proved to be a challenging one with the highest of highs and lowest of lows, nevertheless, UCLA Dragon Boat demonstrated what it is like to paddle in this grueling yet rewarding sport. As we return home and reflect upon this weekend, our paddlers will always remember all the memories we've made, the bonds we've forged, the growth, and fight we shared!

These are the stories and memories we will carry with us long after leaving the race. For many of us, paddling with UCLA Dragon Boat has become an integral part of their college experience. With only 5 days left in our campaign, it is not to late to support our team to ensure we can continue to provide students with a positive and memorable experience on and off the water without the financial burden! We are in awe! Thank you all so much for helping us reach our second stretch goal of $2000!! We are lucky to have such supportive alumni, family and friends like YOU to help us make dreams a reality. Thanks to you, we will be able to go to our next two races without any financial burden for our paddles! Since we still have 15 days left in our campaign, we’ve decided to raise our stretch goal by $500 to begin fundraising to help subsidize our summer race in Long Beach and Oakland as well as funding the future.
