Who we are

Catalyst Newsletter is a student-run organization at UCLA dedicated to amplifying student voices and exploring opportunities in STEM through independent, student-led journalism. We produce quarterly publications featuring industry interviews, research insights, and real student experiences to inform and inspire the next generation of innovators. Founded to address the lack of awareness around diverse STEM career paths, we highlight everything from research and internships to career pivots and unexpected journeys. Supported by faculty and collaborating with campus organizations, we aim to bridge the gap between education and opportunity. With a rapidly growing community, Catalyst empowers students to discover new possibilities and shape their future in STEM.

What’s the problem?

Catalyst provides free, accessible educational resources to UCLA students and beyond—powered entirely by our own funding. Your support helps cover our website, print publications, and case competitions, ensuring these opportunities remain an equitable resource for the Bruin community. It also allows us to share real student stories, highlight diverse STEM career paths, and connect our members with industry professionals through events and networking opportunities. By supporting Catalyst, you’re helping expand access, build confidence, and open doors for students exploring their future in STEM.

How donors can help!

Your support helps us fund our print newsletter so we can give it to students completely free, ensuring cost isn’t a barrier to accessing these opportunities. Your backing also helps us host events like case competitions and networking nights, where students can meet industry leaders, researchers, and professionals they wouldn’t normally have access to. These experiences give our members real exposure to different career paths and the connections they need to move forward.
