Last year, with the INCREDIBLE support of our donors, our Mk. 10 vehicle was able to compete at Michigan International Speedway in the Formula SAE EV Competition. Team history was made, scoring an organization high in the engineering design event as well as passing the EV Active technical inspection for the first time in team history. This was not possible without the amazing generosity of our donors and support system! We are thrilled to return in the next year, hungry to build upon the successes of last year and accomplish even more.


In June of 2026, our new car, Mk. 11, will return to the Speedway to race in the Electric Vehicle Formula SAE competition once again! We are beyond thrilled to bring all of our experience, passion, and innovation into Mk. 11. Due to this new venture, we need your support to help finish Mk. 11 and help get our amazing members out to competition!


As a student organization, fundraising is the backbone of our organization's success. Bruin Formula Racing is committed to the education and enrichment of our members. We designed our organization to bring accessible hands-on experience, project-based learning, and high caliber engineering education to all, and therefore we do not charge any membership fees. However, a project of this scale requires immense financial resources. We are extremely grateful to the many university funds, generous sponsors, and private donors supporting this year’s vehicle. Your donations will go toward purchasing components and services to complete our vehicle, and help get our members to competition!

FAQ

Are gifts tax deductible?

Absolutely! All gifts to UCLA Crowdfunding campaigns are tax-deductible.

However, if you claim a perk that has a Fair Market Value associated with it, your tax deductible amount will be the amount of your donation minus the Fair Market Value of the selected perk.

I want to donate via check. Is that possible?

Of course, and we are grateful for your generosity. Please send a check made payable to the UCLA Foundation to PO Box 7145, Pasadena, CA 91109, referencing the UCLA Crowdfunding campaign you would like to support on the Memo Line. Note that there will be a delay in adding your contribution to the donor wall as your contribution must be manually processed after being delivered to our secure lockbox. 

Do I have to claim a perk?

Not if you don't want one! Simply enter the amount you'd like to donate in the topmost field under 'Please enter the amount you would like to contribute:', and then select the 'No Perk' option. 

I don't want to make a donation at the suggested levels. Can I still support this project and be counted?

Of course! The levels are simply intended for you to better understand how your gift will make a difference. Simply fill in the amount you'd like to donate in the top most field under 'Please enter the amount you would like to contribute:', and then complete the rest of the donation form. We can accept donations between $1 and $999,999.99 via the UCLA Crowdfunding online giving site. If you would like to add a note regarding your gift being in honor of or in memory of someone, or wish to donate anonymously, just write us a note. 

What are my options when donating anonymously?

We are happy to respect your privacy and you are free to hide your name, the amount you donate, or all information regarding your donation from a project's donor wall. If you select this option, you will not receive any form of public acknowledgement for your gift i.e. social media shout outs. However, selecting these options does not mean that your donation is anonymous to the UCLA Foundation, and you will receive donor credit and all applicable tax benefits. 

Can I support a UCLA crowdfunding campaign if I don't live within the United States?

Yes. UCLA has long been one of the top U.S. destinations for international students, as well as a leader in U.S. students studying abroad. We welcome the support of our alumni and friends across the globe.

Does UCLA Crowdfunding or the UCLA Foundation take any part of my donation?

Yes. As is customary with universities and other non-profit organizations across the country, a one-time administrative fee is applied to all new gifts, providing essential support to UCLA's overall operation - such as providing use on our crowdfunding platform free of charge to the projects we host. The fee is currently 6.5 percent.
