Support Society of Women Engineers (SWE) 2026
Join Our Campaign and Unlock a $1,000 Gift!
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UCLA, founded on campus in 1972 and dedicated to advancing the professional development of communities within STEM, has launched a Crowdfunding Campaign to send members to the SWE 2026 National Conference.
This year’s theme, Radiating Change, will bring together members from more than 40 countries to shape the future of engineering, technology and innovation. Your contribution will open the door for UCLA Students to join this global community committed to excellence in engineering. With a campaign goal of $5,000, every gift brings us one step closer to sending a UCLA student to this transformative event.
Bruin Engineer alumna and SWE advisor, Sonia Hingorany ’08, has stepped forward with a special mid‑campaign challenge:
Once we reach 50% of our campaign goal, we will unlock a $1,000 gift from Sonia!
ABOUT WE
WE is the Women in Engineering professional conference annually held by the National SWE organization for collegiate and national members to network, learn, and grow alongside innovators across a multitude of disciplines. Historically, SWE @ UCLA has been able to fully fund the attendance of selected students to WE26 through corporate sponsorships but due to changing narratives towards organizations like ours with focused missions on uplifting marginalized communities, we ask for your support in fulfilling our mission. Taking place November 5-7, 2026, at the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, this three-day event brings together more than 15,000 attendees from 40+ countries to connect, innovate, and inspire. (https://we26.swe.org/)
ABOUT US
SWE is an international not-for-profit organization that aims to provide a voice to women in engineering. Our chapter of SWE here at UCLA strives to motivate women and non binary students to achieve their full potential in their careers as engineers and as leaders, to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion.
As such, we believe we fulfill SWE's motto: Aspire, Advance, Achieve.

In the more than fifty years that SWE has been present on UCLA’s campus since its foundry in 1972, we have consistently emphasized the importance of professional development for our members and underrepresented communities in STEM. As one of the largest collegiate chapters of SWE on a campus of a multi-thousand student body of engineers, we have the unique opportunity to make a huge impact on the campus community and beyond. In recognition of our efforts, in 2025 we were awarded 1st place for Overall Student Group of the Year and for Community Connection by the Engineering Society at UCLA (ESUC).

Whether it be through professional networking events on campus, outreach efforts to local K-12 schools, or varying mentorship programs, SWE is committed to uplifting and supporting underrepresented communities in STEM and inspiring the next generation of change makers.
