Why We’re Raising Funds: The Solid Gold Sound has been the heartbeat and spirit of UCLA for decades, entertaining fans at home, across the country, and even internationally. The UCLA Band represents students from nearly every major across campus, bringing together Bruins from different walks of life in pursuit of musical excellence and building a strong community.

Our uniforms, are a symbol of UCLA around the world.  After nearly 20 years they are showing the wear and tear that naturally occurs over time due to weather and fraying materials. Generations of band members have proudly worked to maintain and even repair our uniforms, extending them past what is considered the norm among college bands.

• Allow band members to proudly represent UCLA at athletic events, community performances, and professional/music industry collaborations.
• Utilize new fabrics, designs, and materials that will give allow students to better fulfill the physical demands of marching.
• Alleviate the burden on students to individually address increasingly difficult challenges (e.g., torn seams).

What Your Support Means: Every dollar raised will directly impact the 250 band members who each year call the Solid Gold Sound their home, as well as thousands in years to come. Just as a university’s fight song and alma mater represent its spirit and identity, so too do marching bands as among the most visible and representative organization on its campus. Our goal is to embody and represent UCLA’s world class reputation whether at home or abroad.
