The Yummy Bowl Benefit is a campus-wide collaborative fundraiser that unites students, faculty, and staff in the fight against food insecurity at UCLA. Through the creation and sale of handmade ceramic bowls, we aim to raise both funds and awareness for UCLA’s Community Programs Office (CPO) Food Closet.
Our mission is twofold: to support students facing food insecurity and to highlight the power of art as a tool for social change. Now in its fourth year, the Yummy Bowl Benefit continues to foster a sense of community, generosity, and creativity among Bruins, all while providing essential resources to those in need.
Food insecurity remains a pressing issue at UCLA, with many students struggling to afford consistent, nutritious meals. The CPO Food Closet was established in 2009 to serve as an anonymous, emergency resource, providing free food and essential items to any UCLA student experiencing financial hardship. Beyond simply offering food, the Food Closet operates multiple programs to support with students' basic needs, including the On The Go Food Cart Program, Food Box Giveaway Program, and Grocery Bundle Program.
The Yummy Bowl Benefit represents a unique way in which students can support one another—by selling beautiful, functional ceramic bowls made by student ceramicists, the proceeds go directly to these critical services.

Important Event Details:
The UCLA Department of Art’s Ceramics Lab is home to a vibrant community of student artists who work together to create the unique, handcrafted bowls featured in the Yummy Bowl Benefit. Under the guidance of faculty members Candice Lin and Anna Sew Hoy, students explore the communal and transformative nature of ceramics, using their skills to engage in meaningful social justice work. The ceramics program provides a space where students collaborate, share techniques, and create art that has a tangible impact on their community.
By participating in the Yummy Bowl Benefit, you are not only acquiring a one-of-a-kind, Bruin-made, ceramic piece, but also contributing to an initiative that directly supports Bruins in need. Your generosity ensures that the CPO Food Closet can continue to provide vital resources to students facing food insecurity. Thank you for being a part of this effort—your support strengthens our UCLA community and helps every Bruin thrive!
Thank you to the UCLA Friends of Clay and our many volunteers for their support in the creation of the bowls.
