25 Years of Community: Mobile Clinic Project at UCLA

We serve approximately 1000 clients per year with a yearly budget of $100,000. Our clinic expenditures include:

• $30,000 for clothing, hygiene items, and other client supplies 
• $30,000 for medical supplies, equipment, medications and acute care
• $15,000 for truck maintenance and transportation
• $12,500 for on-site and off-site facilities
• $2,500 for client transportation

On any given night in LA County, 75,518 people are experiencing homelessness. As a result of the recent LA fires in January of 2025, people experiencing homelessness and displaced evacuees lack consistent access to various services, especially housing and medical needs. 

Homelessness is not only a public health crisis, but it is a social justice issue:

• 69% of LA’s unhoused population are people of color
• Roughly 53% of the unhoused population in L.A. are people with mental and physical disabilities
• Queer youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their peers, and they make up 40% of the 4.2 million youth experiencing homelessness nationally.

The Mobile Clinic Project is not only a way to provide accessible, holistic health care and resources to our unhoused neighbors, but a way to advocate with people experiencing homelessness against the systems that create this issue to begin with. Our mission is to go above and beyond to deliver the high quality and compassionate care that they deserve.

• 87% prefer our clinic over another free clinic 
• 90% preferred MCP over ERs for non-emergent conditions 

The unhoused population in Los Angeles County is one whose health outcomes are directly affected by lack of access to housing, and one that is rendered especially vulnerable due to barriers in receiving healthcare and other social services. MCP has been able to establish and maintain trust with its service recipients by meeting clients where they are at and most comfortable: in their community. 

Every Wednesday, rain or shine, we work to dismantle the stigma that is often associated with individuals within unhoused communities by listening to amplifying our clients’ voices and narratives, as well as reintegrating them into the continuum of care.

• $7 will buy a warm blanket
• $8 will buy a laundry voucher
• $15 will buy new sweatpants
• $20 will buy a warm sweatshirt
• $25 will cover a ride to the ER
• $30 will buy a new pair of shoes
• $40 will buy a tent/sleeping bag
• $40 will buy medication for one clinic
• $50 will cover medical supplies for one clinic
