About Our Team
UCLA Club Track & Field is a student-led club comprised of talented and dedicated student-athletes. We train in cohorts of sprinters, distance runners, jumpers, pole vaulters, and throwers, creating a nurturing yet competitive environment for all track and field enthusiasts. Throughout the year, we compete in meets across California including our own annual UCLA Club Track & Field All-Comers Meet at Drake Stadium. We also foster a strong team community through social events, including our end-of-year Banquet and "Trom" (Track Prom) to celebrate our athletes’ accomplishments from the year.
Unlike NCAA teams, Club Track & Field is entirely self-funded, which means that we rely on the generosity of our community to provide our athletes with essential resources, such as new equipment, professional coaching, and travel. This year we are asking for your help to take our team to the next level!
With the support of many amazing donors, last year we made history sending eleven athletes and Coach Rucker to the 2024 National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) Nationals Track & Field Championships in Richmond, Virginia for the first time. We made our mark on the national stage, with our Women's 4x100 relay team placing 5th and earning the All-American title and bruins Alex Richmond and Hailee Julius placing in the top ten in the long jump and 200m sprint, respectively. Many more of our athletes finished in the top halves of their events.
Nationals was a transformational experience for our athletes, giving us the opportunity to compete at an elite level, push our limits, and represent UCLA on a national stage. This year, we want to go even bigger. With your support, we aim to send even more athletes to NIRCA Nationals in April 2025, giving us the chance to score more points and contend for a team championship!
Traveling to Nationals is a costly endeavor. A round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Richmond, Virginia costs approximately $500 per athlete, and additional expenses—such as accommodation, meals, meet fees, and transportation—bring the total cost to around $800 per athlete. Our goal is to raise $6,000 to help cover these expenses and make this opportunity accessible to as many of our athletes as possible.
In addition, we plan to allocate any additional funds raised toward new equipment to enhance training and competition for all club members. As we continue to grow, we want to invest in hurdles, pole vault poles, and throwing equipment, which will not only benefit our team but also support the broader Los Angeles track & field community through our annual All-Comers Meet.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us to achieve our goals and create unforgettable experiences for our athletes. All donations are tax-deductible, and your support is sure to leave a lasting impact on our club for many years to come.
Help us make history again — let’s bring home the National Title!
