We are Bruin Sportfishing, a fun laid-back club where fishing enthusiasts of all levels can come together to learn, explore, and make lasting memories. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just starting out, our club is designed for anyone with an interest in fishing and outdoor recreation.
Our meetings focus on fishing education and provide the perfect environment for fish enthusiasts to bond. From learning how to tie unique fishing knots to discovering fish cooking methods, there’s something for everyone. We also host exciting fishing trips, from local spots like the Santa Monica Pier to chartered deep-sea excursions near the Channel Islands!
We want Bruin Sportfishing to feel like your home away from home. It’s a place where you can make new friends, learn new skills, and have a great time in the great outdoors.
2024 Channel Islands Fishing Trip
As a student-run organization, funding is always a challenge for Bruin Sportfishing. From transportation and gear rentals for our fishing trips to providing bait, tackle, and educational materials for our meetings, most of our club’s expenses come directly from our members' pockets. Your support will allow us to make fishing trips, like deep-sea excursions and local outings, more accessible to all Bruins and help us expand fishing education without financial barriers!
Our initial goal is to raise funds for our upcoming 3-day camping and fishing trip near Lake Cachuma during MLK weekend, the 3rd week of winter quarter. This trip will not only be a chance for our members to enjoy the outdoors, but also an exciting opportunity to fish at beautiful Lake Cachuma. The lakes are known for great fishing spots, offering a perfect chance to practice our fishing skills. However, as with any big trip, there are significant costs involved, including campsite reservations, food, transportation, and fishing gear. With your support, we can make this trip accessible to all members and ensure a fun-filled, memorable weekend.
