Invest in BBSA Students' Professional Success
The UCLA Anderson Black Business Students Association (BBSA) empowers Black business students with the resources, mentorship and community they need to thrive academically, professionally and personally. We advocate for inclusivity within Anderson and the business world, and enrich our community through collaboration and celebration of success.
Why are conferences important?
Throughout the year, BBSA students have the opportunity to attend premier conferences such as AfroTech, the National Black MBA Association Conference & Exposition, the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit, and more. These events bring together professionals, thought leaders, and innovators from various industries, offering students unparalleled access to networking, career fairs, workshops, and inspiring keynote speakers. By participating, students gain exposure to cutting-edge ideas, build meaningful professional connections, and explore career opportunities with top companies committed to diversity and inclusion.
Why we need your support!
Attending professional conferences is a vital opportunity for BBSA students to connect with accomplished Black professionals, gain access to internship and full-time career opportunities, and foster a sense of community within their field. These events not only enhance professional development but also serve as a critical platform for mentorship and inclusivity, equipping students to thrive in their academic and career journeys. However, attending these conferences often comes with significant financial barriers. Your support helps break down these barriers, ensuring BBSA students have the resources they need to fully participate in these transformative experiences and continue building a more diverse and inclusive business world.

What do conferences typically cost?
Next year, we aim to send 25 BBSA members to one of these renowned conferences. However, the cost is significant—an average ticket costs approximately $500, and with airfare and hotel accommodations, total expenses can quickly exceed $1,500 per student. Currently, each student receives only $300 in conference funding, leaving a considerable financial burden. Your support can help bridge this gap, easing the financial strain on our students.
How do conferences impact students?
"Going to the National Black MBA Conference was fantastic. The ability to gather with so many Black professionals gave me the opportunity to network with peers from across the country! I also really valued the panels I attended, as they gave me insight both into career spaces I was familiar with and companies that I had not yet interacted with. Most of all, the NBMBAA Conference gave me the unique opportunity to network and recruit with companies outside of UCLA’s typical hiring bandwidth. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to both represent my school and meet new people!"
