Diwali: An Expression of Community and Gratitude

Bruin Hindus is a religious student organization founded in 2021 whose purpose is to create an inclusive space for Hindu students and friends at UCLA. We seek to build community through outreach and advocacy programs for students and engage students in activities of religious and cultural significance.

Our program seeks to commemorate the festival of Diwali on the 10th of November, which has extreme significance in not only Hinduism but also among other communities such as Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists. Our primary objective is to bring these diverse groups of students all together to celebrate this festival of lights in harmony and oneness. Our program seeks to bring together students from a broad range of backgrounds would foster as well as enrich this very spirit of unity in campus diversity.

The program would be one-of-a-kind as we aim not only to showcase the artistic and cultural side of Diwali through the many performances but also highlight the devotional and spiritual significance of the festival through the setup of a mini temple and devotional service offered to the deities. This addition of spirituality & going deeper than customary dining, singing, and dancing, is what we believe makes our event unique.

 How can a donor help? 

As always, Bruin Hindus is committed to fostering community at all our events, and food, without which the festival seems incomplete, is one of the ways in which we achieve this. Since we plan to serve all of our guests a complimentary Indian meal at our Diwali event, we request your generous support for us to help serve everyone.

With the overwhelming response we got last year (with over 1,000 signups), we have booked a larger event space, the Ackerman Grand Ballroom and the Bruin Reception Room, to ensure we can host all of our guests comfortably. With your donations, we would be able to provide for this enhanced and spacious event venue.
