WHO ARE WE?
The Raas Team at UCLA, Bataaka Nu Shaak, is a 20-year-old competitive dance team that was the first of its kind on the West Coast. We are committed to sharing our Indian culture with our community through the beautiful and high energy Raas and Garba dance styles. We fuse traditional and modern elements to create intricate and inspiring on-stage performances. Every year, as a closely-knit family, we compete across the nation and perform at a variety of cultural events.
UCLA Bataaka Nu Shaak Performing at Nasha 2019WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Every year, our team is responsible for covering costs such as props, costumes, transportation, food, housing, and competition application fees. Although every dancer does pay an initial due, we still require more funding to travel and compete nationally. Our dancers already face financial burdens being students, which is why we need YOUR support in helping us pursue our passion and represent UCLA!

Our team has been unable to compete for the last 2 years due to COVID and a lack of funding/resources. We are looking to bring UCLA back into the national Raas/Garba competition circuit!
