At The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, students receive world-class training in performance, composition, musicology, ethnomusicology, jazz, education, and the music industry. This Blue & Gold Challenge, the school is fundraising for four key funds that directly impact our students and their programs:

• Dean’s Opportunity Fund – provides flexible resources to meet emerging needs and support innovative initiatives.
• Student Scholarship Fund – helps us attract and retain the most talented students, regardless of financial circumstances.
• Equity, Diversity, Access, and Inclusion Fund – supports programs and initiatives that ensure every student feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
• Student Professional Development Fund – enables students to participate in competitions, conferences, and performances that advance their careers.

We have housed trailblazers since our founding, when Arnold Schoenberg anchored our music faculty and Mantle Hood established the world’s leading ethnomusicology institute. Our reach today is global, with established centers for Armenian, Iranian, Latino and Jewish music, as well as a program in global jazz studies and a new music industry center established by Motown legend Berry Gordy. We are the UC system’s only school of music and we foster changemakers.
